Updated: Feb 11, 2020

A total of 2,721 students from different colleges and universities will be taking the City Educational Assistance Program (CEAP) on February 23, 2020, as announced by the City Youth and Sports Development Office (CYSDO) on Friday.

The scholarship exam will be held at San Jose del Monte National Trade School (SJDMNTS) from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 55 rooms will be used and each will accomodate up to 50 students. Examinees are advised to bring their examination stubs.

The local office also released the list of examinees and their respective room numbers.

CYSDO administrators are also looking for 60 city scholars who are willing to serve as proctors on the date of the qualifying examination. Those who will volunteer will earn 2 days of community service.

The allotted budget of the city government for the CEAP is 22 million pesos and every scholar is granted with an allowance worth 5,000 pesos every semester, as stated by CYSDO Supervising Officer Christopher Acibal.

The CYSDO official also shared the process of the application.

"Bale by November or December nagkakaroon kami ng application, magpopost kami sa CYSDO page, nakalagay na dun yung downloadable na application form, then fifill-upan ng bata, dadalhin niya rito. Ang start ng pasahan nun, mga December, first week. Tapos mag-eend siya last week ng January. After nun checheck namin yung papers nila, after nun nagpopost kami ng date ng exam, mga February. So lahat ng nag-apply by December or January, mag-eexam ng February. March, nagrerelease na kami ng result. Kung ang gumraduate na graduating scholars ay 500, 500 ang kukunin namin na mga scholar, based dun sa result ng exam nila. Pinopost namin yun sa page ng CYSDO. By May, pinapatawag na lahat ng nakapasa nagkakaroon ng orientation, dun pa lang binibigay kung ano yung mga requirements," Acibal said.

He also indicated the requirements needed for the CEAP: Grades of the student (Grade 12 report card for incoming first year college or Class Card from the last semester for college students), Certificate of Enrollment or Registration, Certificate of Indigency from barangay, Income Tax Return of parents from the Bureau of Internal Reforms, or Certification that the parents do not have enough income. These requirements are due to pass by June for Non-Change Calendar and August for Change Calendar.

The scholars will also be required to participate in a 15-day community service in city goverment offices where they will be assigned to assist employees and serve their fellow San Joseños.

CYSDO prioritizes indigent families to be a part of the CEAP. According to the Supervising Head, they look through the salary that both parents earn per month which should not be greater than 25,000 pesos or they should be certified as indigent by the barangay and the BIR.

The said scholarship program has been helping thousands of youth in San Jose del Monte for 10 years. The CEAP started its operation on 2009.
