3 COVID-19 patients were sent in their homes due to lack of space in health facilities

Mayor Joy Belmonte said on Sunday, March 22 that three COVID-19 patients were sent home after their test for the virus because of lack of space in facilities.

According to the QC Mayor, the 3 patients belongs to urban poor communities and the city government is finding a way to take out the patients to prevent the spread of the virus.

In an interview from ANC, Belmonte said that the patients are showing "very, very mild symptoms and they are probably asymptomatic that's why there's a little bit of lack of concern to isolate them in a facility."

Belmonte added in a text message to ABS-CBN News later that day that the person who tested the patients were the ones who sent them to their homes and they found out about it after the list was given to them by the Department of Health (DOH).

The lack of space in health facilities led to the decision of sending the patients home while waiting for their test results.

"Now, what's happening is the person who gets tested but because there's no place for them to stay while they're waiting for the results, they get sent home. So, even if they're positive, they get sent home." Belmonte said.

It is still not clear if the 3 patients are among the 44 patients that is recorded, according to DOH website.
