H5N6 avian influenza or bird flu is the highly-pathogenic that could potentially affect humans has been found in a barangay in Jaen in Nueva Ecija.
A farm collected in Barangay Ulanin-Pitak conducted a tests last Friday, March 13, and the results shows these were positive for avian influenza according to Agriculture Secretary William Dar.
Tests were done after the increase of deaths of 1,500 out of total of 15,000 quails that were reported in one of the farms in the area on March 9.
Humans can be infected but the Department of Agriculture (DA) clarified that there has been no human mortality from this so far.
