DOH announces deaths of 3 COVID-19 patients; total deaths now at 5

The Department of Health (DOH) releases a statement, March 12, Thursday, about the death of three coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.

The patients were Patient 6, Patient 5 and Patient 37.
Patient 6 was admitted at Cardinal Santos Medical Center on March 5 and was transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. The patient suddenly experienced difficulty in breathing and was intubated late evening of March 11. She expired the same night from acute respiratory distress syndrome due to severe pneumonia secondary to Covid-19.
Patient 5 the husband of Patient 6 expired morning of March 12 because of acute respiratory syndrome secondary to Covid-19.
Patient 37 was admitted on March 6, at the Philippine Heart Center after experiencing onset of symptoms on February 28. The patient was confirmed with COVID-19 on March 11 and was reported to have existing hypertension. The patient died this afternoon, with Acute Respiratory Failure as the cause of death.
