DOH official tests positive for COVID-19

The Department of Health announced on Tuesday evening, March 17, that one of its officials tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement released by DOH, the confirmed case is a Director and not a member of the DOH Executive Committee, in contrary to circulating posts.

Moreover, the health agency assured the public that all close contacts of the confirmed case have been "informed" and instructed to undergo home quarantine. They are also under strict monitoring.

DOH released a follow-up statement yesterday evening regarding the announcement. The post

included guidelines regarding on being close contact with the case.

It states that if the person was at least 2 meters distant with the senior official, he or she is not considered a close contact. However, if the person interacted, or in close proximity, or cared for the patient, then he or she shall be considered as a close contact.

DOH, on the other hand, made clear in the statement that their employees are among the department's "top priorities" and even mentioned that all offices within the department have been disinfected.

Meanwhile, DOH advises the public to practice personal preventive measures to end COVID-19 transmission.
