Updated: Feb 4, 2020

According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 (MRT-7) is now 50.69% complete as of January 15, DOTr released the progress report on Wednesday.

“To date, civil works of the underground/depressed, at grade, and elevated guideway of the rail line are in various stages of construction, while the civil works of the nine (9) stations are at full blast,” said the DOTr.

As for the vehicles and railroads, DOTr confirmed that 108 cars have already been completed, while installation of track works are already in progress.

The train line will connect the MRT-3 North Avenue station in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. It is also said to cut down travel time to 34 minutes from the usual two to three hours duration starting from QC to SJDM and vice versa.

“Once operational, MRT-7 is expected to serve 300,000 to 850,000 passengers daily, with room for capacity expansion,” the DOTr added.

DOTr also stated in the report that the MRT-7 will be inter-connected with LRT-1 and the Metro Manila Subway via the Common Station in North Avenue.

The said project is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
