Graduation rites, moving-up ceremonies can be cancelled, DepEd says

The Department of Education (DepEd) said on Friday that the graduation rites and moving-up ceremonies of schools can be cancelled or rescheduled in light of the suspension of classes and activities due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla reminded that the schools should consult to parents on the said matter.

“Puwede po nila itong i-reschedule, puwede din po na ‘di na nila ituloy pero ito po ay kailangan ikonsulta sa mga magulang,” she said in a press briefing.

(They can reschedule it. They can also cancel it but they have to consult the parents.)

Classes in all levels across Luzon are suspended until April 14 and would resume on April 15 as the public is urged to stay home to prevent further transmission of the virus.

On the other hand, DepEd shifted to electronic learning with an online platform called "DEpEd Commons” to help students continue their classes amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
