The Makati Medical Center (MMC) released a statement on Wednesday denouncing Senator Koko Pimentel III's violation of the infection and containment protocols of the hospital against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The statement was posted in social media. According to MMC Medical Director Dr. Saturnino Javier confirmed reports that the Senator, which results for COVID-19 testing turned out to be positive, brought his pregnant wife Kathryna to the hospital Tuesday night for delivery via caesarean section. In the statement it said that by being in MMC and entering the delivery room, the Senator violatioted his Home Quaratine Protocol and exposed the health workers to possible infection. Javier said that the MMC Delivery Room had already been contaminated and disinfected, and could now be used. He also added that the staff involved have also been notified of what happened. They have also been evaluated and may quarantined if needed. According to Senator Pimentel, he was only informed about his situation Tuesday evening. He announced his condition on Wednesday.
