New round of voters registration begins January 20

The system of continuing registration of voters for the 2020 national and local elections will resume on January 20, 2020 until September 30, 2021, as announced by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), January 10.

The given period includes holidays except Sundays, Maundy Thursday (April 9, 2020 and April 1, 2021), Good Friday (April 10, 2020 and April 2, 2021), and Christmas Day (December 25, 2020).

"Applications for registration, transfer of registration records, change/correction of entries in the registration record, reactivation of registration record, and reinstatement of name in the list of voters will be accepted. Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens as well as members of Indigenous Peoples or Indigenous Cultural Communities and other members of vulnerable sectors may also update their records," COMELEC wrote.

COMELEC also stated in their website that all applications as well as updating of records shall be done personally at the Office of the Election Officer of the city or municipality where the applicant resides from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

However, registered voters as of May 13, 2019 midterm elections do no need to apply for a new onw according to COMELEC.
