PHIVOLCS: "crater glow" observed in Mayon Volcano

In their latest statement, PHIVOLCS said that a "crater glow" has been observed in Mayon Volcano in the past two days.


The "crater glow" indicates that there may be upward movements of "remnant magma" from its last eruption.


PHIVOLCS also added that the Mayon is still on Alert Level 2 which means that the volcano remains at a "moderate level of unrest".


They also said that the recent behavior of the volcano was mainly driven by "change occurring within magma already replaced beneath the edifice rather than by renewed magma intrusion events."
