SJDM's first COVID-19 case confirmed

Mayor Arthur Robes confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the city of San Jose de Monte, Bulacan.

Robes verified the information in the live broadcast of State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, followed by an official announcement from SJDM Public Information Office.

According to the report, the person who tested positive is a 58-year-old woman residing in Montecillo Subdivision, Brgy. Graceville, CSJDM, Bulacan and an employee in Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila, where she might have possibly contracted the coronavirus disease.

This is the first case of COVID-19 in the province. Early statements by the Department of Health (DOH) and President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night mentioned that the first case came from the town of Santa Maria, Bulacan, but City Mayor Russel Pleyto denied the information.

According to DOH, the patient indicates that she has no history of travel which means it was locally contracted.

Meanwhile, contract tracing is now being conducted to detect similar cases and prevent its further spread.
