Taylor Swift 'Miss Americana' film drops tomorrow on Netflix

A Netflix original documentary film about the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and it will be released on Friday, January 31.

Swift confirmed it on Instagram and Twitter on January 16 with an official poster. The said film will also be shown in select theaters.

Miss Americana is directed the Emmy Winning Director Lana Wilson (After Tiller, The Departure) and produced by the Oscar-winning filmmakers Morgan Neville and Caitrin Rogers behind 20 Feet From Stardom.

Swift released the official trailer on Youtube, January 22 and already premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23.

The trailer illustrates that the film will tackle her life as a songwriter, a performer, and as a "woman harnessing the full power of her voice" in the music industry and in her own country.

The singer has always been open about her political views. Just last year, Swift criticized the White House for not signing the Equality Act which seeks to incorporate protections against LGBT discrimination and which also seeks to expand existing protections for people of color, women, and other minority groups.

It was on November 2019 when Swift first mentioned about the documentary film she'd been working on with the popular streaming service. This became an issue as the singer is involved in a copyright feud with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records.

Taylor wrote, “Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”

On the other hand, Netflix already displayed the details of Miss Americana on the streaming service app. It is revealed that it will be 1 hour and 25 minutes long.
