Valenzuela confirms 1st case of COVID-19

The Valenzuela City Health Office on Thursday reported the city's first positive case of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


According to press release, the case is a 34-year-old female with no travel history but was exposed to an individual who had traveled to Malaysia.


The patient is currently showing flu-like symptoms and is under strict home quarantine following the guidelines issued by health authorities.


The said patient consulted a private hospital in Manila immediately.


The local government of Valenzuela said that their staff already conducted contact tracing to contain the spread of the virus.


The Philippines currently has a total of 202 COVID-19 cases, including 17 fatalities.
