CEAP scholars exhibit talent for SJDM’s annual competition

Updated: Jan 12, 2020

Beneficiaries of the City Educational Assistance Program (CEAP) gathered for the General Assembly and talent competition at the Minuyan Sports Complex on Saturday, November 30.

Mayor Arthur Robes and Congresswoman Florida “Rida” Robes, along with the help of the City Youth and Sports Development Office (CYSDO) led the said event.

The CYSDO organized the CEAP General Assembly to clarify a few questions of the scholars regarding their community service and remind them of their duties as city scholars.

“Maraming nagtatanong sa page kung required ba umattend kapag nagpapatawag kami. Syempre, pag may klase, ‘di na kailangan. Pero we always try na itapat sa mga araw na walang pasok,” CYSDO Supervising Officer Christopher Acibal said.

“Saka gumagawa rin kami ng paraan para mapadali ‘yung community service. ‘Yung mga pagpapatawag namin... maikli na nga ‘yung bakasyon, mag-cocommunity service pa,” he added.

Acibal also reminded some scholars to accomplish their requirements. The new scholars were welcomed as well.

Special guests Beatriz Imperial (Starstruck Season 6 finalist) and John Edrick Ulang (Eat Bulaga’s Mr. Pogi 2012) also joined the event and offered their serenades for the scholars.

On the other hand, the season 3 of Scholar Got Talent became the highlight of the program as the 13 contestants from different colleges and universities competed for the title and cash prize. The winners are Leanne San Ramon (Champion), Princes May Poblete (1st Place), Kaiser Parayno (2nd Place), and Philip Laurenz Teodoro (3rd Place). The other finalists are Efren Fame, Cristel Ancheta, Diana Lynn Jimenez, Maria Rowena Gangcuangco, Arjhay Trinidad, and Joanna Dugan of DH. Trios, Shaine Dela Cruz, Flor Dayag, Elben Jay Pasco, Ryuji Wakita, and Alwin Ayao.

The Scholar Got Talent Champion also left a message for her fellow San Joseño scholars. “Message ko sa kanila kung may talent, wag mahihiya [ipakita]. Lalo pa’t kabataan sila, dapat mag step out of their boxes kasi para sa kanila rin ‘yon. Wag silang susuko sa mga pangarap nila,” San Ramon said.

Meanwhile, the CYSDO announced that the application for CEAP 2019 is officially closed and the examination date will be on February 22, 2020. Further announcements regarding the scholarship program will be posted on their Facebook page.

The CEAP prioritizes children of indigent families. In order to avail the said educational assistance, students must fill up the provided form, submit the requirements, and take the qualifying examination.
